CUTTY SHELLS' DEBUT
BIRTH OF FERTILITY
an interactive Livestream-Performance
The three performers move as pawns in the performance space. The participants in the stream influence what happens on stage. It is a game. A game about theatre that can only be experienced in the performative act and the tension between performing and observing, the visible and the invisible, the material and the immaterial. A play that attempts to transport virtual space onto the stage and to use virtuality as a performance space. In the background, the question of the structures and programming of theatre crackles, which can rediscover, lose, dissolve or break out in this scenographic arrangement. What is the theatre of new media? Can a virtual presence in the theatre be equated with a physical one?

In the course of the play, the exploration of the programming of the theatre becomes a metaphor for human existence. To what extent do our decisions arise from an indeterminate feeling within us and to what extent is this an installed illusion? Can we free ourselves from the web of causal structures if the act of freeing ourselves is part of the structure? On which system does the game of life run and when does the game piece itself become the player?
