What I really like about Katharina Simons' work is the fearlessness (please understand this in an entirely positive way) with which very popular formats, especially from the field of gaming, a pop-oriented aesthetic and rather difficult and presuppositional themes are combined.
- Prof. Dr. Stefanie Diekmann on "CALL OF MORAL DUTY" (free translated from german)
In this way, Simons remains true to her roots: she unites theatre and mediality and lets them enter into a symbiosis. (...) In a whimsical way, all the senses are addressed: you hear, you see - but you also smell, taste and feel
.

One Word. You are hyped!
One Word. You are cancelled.
One Joke. Who do you decide to be?
CALL OF MORAL DUTY is an interactive solo performance specially conceived for the livestream. Director Katharina Simons works under the label CUTTY SHELLS with a performative and interdisciplinary approach and essayistically addresses the discussions on Cancel Culture. Cancel Culture is a movement that calls for the boycott of morally questionable artists and artworks via social media. The debates are now pouring over the virtual fringe, bringing down existing hierarchies and value systems and influencing private everyday structures.
Should I still consume works by morally questionable artists?
Or am I more likely to shake up the freedom of art and close down spaces for discussion and experience?
As an anonymous spectator, you are part of an anonymous audience. You become the artist yourself and actively decide on the hierarchical order between ethics and aesthetics through a selection system with two options each.
Every performance becomes an experiment. An experiment about art without morals. An experiment about a society without art. An experiment about an art without equality. An experiment about a culture without freedom. So the question for you is:
Is this (still) art or can it (now) go away?
