EXIT THROUGH THE INSIDE is a deconstructed techno-shamanic soul healing journey in the form of a transmedial dance performance.
Based on the feeling of longing for boundless connectedness and the desire for escapist experiences, Katharina Simons and her team conceive a collective rite to transcendence. The consciously induced oscillation between inner and outer spaces takes the audience to long forgotten places of longing and lonely shadow worlds. Breathing, body, sound and digital sphere blur into an ecstatic dance of love, harmony and destruction. Together, the individual fragments spiral deeper and deeper into the untouched expanse of darkness and follow the maelstrom down into an Elysian silence. Everything seems alien and yet familiar at the same time; a view that leads back up beyond the limits of mental understanding.

In a preceding, intensive research CUTTY SHELLS followed the views and questions of techno-shamanism and focused on the question to what extent digital technologies can (again) create a closeness to one's own essence. At the center of the exploration is transmediality, as a staging and spiritual tool to enter into intra- and transpersonal relationships. The performance also opens up the possibility of discovering the consciousness-expanding potential of hybrid perceptual phenomena and of questioning aesthetic experiences as spiritual insights.

Das Projekt ist eine Koproduktion der Tafelhalle im KunstKulturQuartier Nürnberg und wird unterstützt vom Tanznetz Freiburg. Diese Veranstaltung wird ermöglicht durch den Bayerischen Landesverband für zeitgenössischen Tanz (BLZT) aus Mitteln des Bayerischen Staatministeriums für Wissenschaft und Kunst. Das Projekt wird unterstützt von der Stadt Nürnberg, der Kulturstiftung der Sparkasse Nürnberg, der Stadt Fürth und der Tanzzentrale der Region Nürnberg e.V.
Die konzeptuelle Planung wurde unterstützt durch das NATIONALE PERFORMANCE NETZWERK – STEPPING OUT, gefördert von der Beauftragten der Bundesregierung für Kultur und Medien im Rahmen der Initiative NEUSTART KULTUR. Hilfsprogramm Tanz.
Die konzeptuelle Planung und Erstellung des Virtual-World-Buildings entstand in kooperativer Zusammenarbeit mit dem digitalen Künstlerinnenkollektiv Ruhrgebieterinnen aus Dortmund.
