In FUNGHI THINGY, performance artist Katharina Simons and choreographer Patrycja Maslowska delve into the

mysterious world of funghis.
In eco-somatic and medial-aesthetic practice, the two artists want to approach this life form and develop and share a deeper understanding of its existence, which is located on the border between life and death.

The question of what we can learn from mushrooms and how they influence our lives is - like the mushroom itself - spreading more and more into the centre of society. It is not without reason that its network-like structure is also known as the Wood Wide Web. To network, fungi enter into cooperative negotiations with other natural objects and have their own kind of intelligence with which they can also manipulate their environment... Or do we interpret this behaviour as manipulation, since docking onto another organism means a cross-border takeover and control for us?

What secrets about networking can we elicit from mushrooms and where should we be afraid of their hidden powers and dormant forces?
FUNGHI THINGY- is a research that turns nature into an object and a method. Nature becomes a medium and the medium goes into nature. A communication between species, aliens and patterns for an expanded understanding of connections in and with nature.
