‘Eroticism begins where you stop knowing what moves you.’**
SEX WITH ALIENS is an artistic research institute that explores how intimacy can be reimagined and experienced. What if what attracts you is not human?
The alien becomes a metaphor for the radically other, opening up an erotic field of research into alien intimacies and different kinds of desire in speculative interstices. At the centre is the longing for a togetherness that goes deeper than familiar routines. Taboo forms and practices are stripped of their cloak of shame and examined for their individual potential for pleasure. Pleasure becomes the starting point and basis for a new kind of relationship and togetherness.

**Quote from an AI in response to the question ‘What is eroticism for you?’

Inspired by science fiction novels and their speculative thinking, the project focuses on an expanded network of relationships. Bodies encounter other species, technologies, materials and environments in resonance and transform themselves into an erotic ecology. How can we experience an ecosomatic vitality in which pleasure is inextricably interwoven with the conditions of our living environments? What political power arises from this sensitivity?

As part of the 4-exchange residency in Stuttgart, the research team is beginning to develop initial scenic sketches. Performance artist and director Katharina Simons, working under the label CUTTY SHELLS, is collaborating with performers Elina Brams Ritzau and Julian Sturz on performative experiments that explore the boundaries between tender intimacy, unfamiliar choreography, and playful openness. A place where desire and research can meet. A place that rethinks intimacy.
